The HEMI Comeback Just Got Serious: Ram's 2027 Performance-Truck Wave Is Here
Ram did not bring the HEMI V8 back just to fill a line on a spec sheet. The 2027 lineup is turning into a full performance-truck push: the 5.7-liter HEMI is available again in the Ram 1500, Roush and Mopar Direct Connection have developed a dealer-available HEMI package, the Rumble Bee returns as a family of muscle trucks, and the supercharged end of the range reaches 777 horsepower.
What is officially confirmed for 2027
The available 5.7L HEMI V8 in the 2027 Ram 1500 is rated at 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Ram also lists the Hurricane inline-six and Pentastar V6 in the regular lineup, but the bigger enthusiast story is how aggressively the company is expanding its V8 performance offerings.
- Rumble Bee 5.7: 395 hp, with availability planned for late 2026.
- Rumble Bee 392: a factory 6.4L HEMI in the Ram 1500, rated at 470 hp and 455 lb-ft.
- Rumble Bee SRT: a supercharged 6.2L HEMI rated at 777 hp and 680 lb-ft; Ram is targeting 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and an 11.6-second quarter mile.
Ram says the 392 and SRT versions are scheduled for the first half of 2027. These are announced production programs, not speculative renderings.
Roush and Direct Connection take a different approach
SEMA recently highlighted the 2027 Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush, built on a Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 with the 5.7L HEMI. The package focuses on the whole truck rather than a single peak-power number.
Roush specifies a 2-inch coil-over suspension, 18-inch wheels, 33-inch General Grabber A/TX tires, 3.92 gearing, an electronic locking rear axle and an active cat-back exhaust with selectable modes. Roush also says the package retains factory towing capability and ADAS compatibility and includes a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty on its components.
What it means for current Ram HEMI owners
You do not need to wait for a 2027 truck to build a better HEMI-powered Ram. SMG Speed Shop already carries current-generation intake and exhaust hardware for 5.7L HEMI trucks and current TRX applications.
For 2019-2024 Ram 1500 5.7L applications, check out the Kooks 1-7/8-inch stainless long-tube header and high-flow catted Y-pipe system. On the intake side, the aFe Magnum FORCE Stage-2 Pro DRY S cold-air intake covers current 5.7L applications listed in its fitment data. Existing TRX owners can also shop products such as the aFe Magnum FORCE Stage 2 intake for 2021-2023 TRX 6.2L supercharged trucks.
Fitment matters: current-generation parts should not be assumed to fit 2027 trucks until manufacturers publish validated applications. Electronics, emissions hardware, chassis details and exhaust routing can change even when the engine family is familiar.
Build the combination, not just the parts list
Modern performance trucks respond best when airflow, exhaust, traction, chassis setup and calibration are planned together. That is where North Texas High Performance complements the SMG catalog with installation, calibration and dyno validation for performance builds.
The broader market trend is worth watching too. Earlier this week we covered why SEMA's 2026 data does not support the idea that gasoline performance is disappearing. Ram's 2027 product cadence is a concrete example of manufacturers still investing in enthusiast-focused internal-combustion vehicles.
The bottom line
Ram's 2027 strategy is not subtle: the 5.7 HEMI is back in the regular 1500, Roush and Direct Connection are selling a factory-integrated performance package, the Rumble Bee returns with multiple V8 power levels, and the top supercharged configuration reaches 777 horsepower.
