SMG Speed Shop – Returns, Refunds, Cancellations & Warranty Policy

Revision Date: July 14, 2026

By placing an order with SMG Speed Shop (“SMG”), the purchaser acknowledges that they had an opportunity to review and agree to the version of this policy in effect when the order was placed. This policy applies to retail customers, dealers, resellers, installers, commercial purchasers, sales-representative orders, telephone orders, quoted orders, and online orders unless a signed written agreement or a more specific written product or order term disclosed and accepted before or at order placement states otherwise.

Nothing in this policy limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived.

1. Order-Specific Terms and Priority

Product-specific terms shown on a product page, quotation, invoice, special-order acknowledgment, dealer agreement, or other written order document disclosed before or at order placement may impose stricter return, cancellation, warranty, freight, or restocking terms.

When a specific written term conflicts with a general term in this policy, the more specific written term controls for that product or order. A manufacturer’s warranty controls the manufacturer’s warranty process and remedy, but it does not expand SMG’s return eligibility.

2. Return Window and Required Authorization

SMG accepts returns only on eligible items and only with prior written authorization.

  • A Return Merchandise Authorization (“RMA”) must be requested within 15 calendar days after delivery.
  • “Delivery” means the carrier-confirmed delivery date to the address on the order. For customer pickup, it means the date the purchaser or the purchaser’s representative takes possession.
  • After an RMA is issued, the package must be accepted by the return carrier within 5 calendar days, unless the written RMA states a different deadline.
  • An RMA expires if the item is not shipped by the stated deadline.
  • An RMA is conditional authorization to send an item for inspection. It is not a promise that the return will be accepted or refunded.
  • Returns sent without an RMA, sent to an address other than the address stated in the RMA, or shipped after the RMA expires may be refused or returned at the sender’s expense.

To request an RMA, email returns@smgspeed.com and include the order number, purchaser name, item or part number, reason for the request, and current photographs of the item and packaging.

3. General Return Eligibility

Unless a stricter rule applies elsewhere in this policy, an item must satisfy every requirement below to qualify for return:

  • Brand new, unused, uninstalled, unmodified, and never test-fit;
  • Complete with every part, accessory, fitting, fastener, cable, document, instruction, label, and promotional item originally supplied;
  • In the original manufacturer packaging, with the packaging clean, undamaged, unmarked, and suitable for resale as new;
  • Free from tool marks, mounting marks, connector marks, scratches, fluids, fuel, oil, residue, odors, dirt, contamination, programming, calibration, or other evidence of handling or use;
  • Identified by the same serial number, lot number, product label, and part number recorded for the original order; and
  • Returned in protective outer packaging. Do not place shipping labels, tape, handwriting, or carrier markings directly on manufacturer or retail packaging.

All returns are inspected. SMG may reject a return, reduce the refund, or return the item at the purchaser’s expense when the item does not satisfy this policy. An item is not accepted merely because a carrier delivered it to SMG.

4. Special Return Rules for Fueling Products

4.1 Definition of “Fueling Product”

For this policy, “Fueling Product” means any product intended to store, transfer, filter, regulate, meter, inject, monitor, or control fuel, or to form any part of a vehicle fuel system. This includes, without limitation, fuel pumps, pump modules, injectors, rails, regulators, filters, lines, hoses, fittings, tanks, cells, hangers, controllers, harnesses, sensors, flex-fuel products, port-injection products, auxiliary fuel systems, and kits containing any such component.

4.2 The Only Fueling Products Eligible for Return

A Fueling Product is eligible for a customer-requested return only when all of the following are true:

  • It is a standard stock item and is not custom, special order, made to order, built to order, assembled to order, modified, configured, or otherwise marked final sale;
  • The RMA is requested within the return window in Section 2;
  • The exact product and serial number match the original order;
  • The manufacturer packaging and every factory or tamper-evident seal remain completely intact, original, unopened, uncut, unpeeled, undisturbed, and unrepaired;
  • The product has never been removed from its sealed manufacturer packaging; and
  • SMG can verify that the product is in the same sealed, untouched condition in which it was shipped.

Opening a separate outer shipping carton solely to view the sealed manufacturer package does not by itself disqualify the return. Opening, cutting, peeling, lifting, disturbing, replacing, or re-taping the manufacturer packaging or any seal disqualifies the return.

A Fueling Product that was not originally supplied in packaging that allows SMG to verify factory-sealed, untouched condition is final sale and is not eligible for return.

4.3 Opened, Handled, or Test-Fit Fueling Products Are Final Sale

Any Fueling Product is final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged once it has been opened, removed from sealed packaging, handled beyond an exterior inspection, test-fit, threaded, connected, plugged in, installed, energized, programmed, calibrated, primed, pressurized, filled, exposed to fuel or other fluid, contaminated, modified, or otherwise used.

“Test-fit” includes placing the item on, in, or against a vehicle or assembly; inserting or tightening a fitting or fastener; connecting a hose, line, harness, sensor, or electrical connector; applying power; or performing any act intended to evaluate installation or operation.

4.4 Mandatory 30% Fueling Product Restocking Fee

Every approved customer-requested Fueling Product return is subject to a mandatory 30% restocking fee, calculated from the merchandise price actually paid for the returned item after discounts and before tax and shipping.

Except for a verified SMG fulfillment error or a remedy required by applicable law, this fee cannot be waived by an employee, sales representative, dealer, reseller, installer, manufacturer, or other person. Buyer’s remorse, project changes, loss or sale of the vehicle, job or financial changes, duplicate purchases, a dealer’s decision to accept a customer return, or a claimed fitment issue do not waive or reduce the fee when SMG supplied the item ordered.

The 30% fee is in addition to applicable shipping deductions stated in this policy. SMG will not add a second discretionary restocking percentage to an approved Fueling Product return.

4.5 Serialization and Traceability

Fueling Products sold by SMG are serialized and/or recorded to the original purchaser and order for traceability and warranty administration. An approved return requires inspection, quarantine, serial-number verification, record correction, and removal or reassignment of the product from the original order history.

A return will be rejected if a serial number, label, seal, package, component, or identifying mark does not match SMG’s records or appears removed, altered, substituted, duplicated, resealed, or tampered with.

4.6 Fueling Products Containing Electronics

Fueling Products are governed by this Section 4 even when a kit includes an electrical or electronic component. Electrical or electronic products outside the Fueling Product category remain governed by the final-sale rules in Section 6.

5. Dealer, Reseller, and Installer Orders

This policy applies equally to dealers, resellers, installers, wholesale purchasers, and retail customers unless a signed dealer agreement expressly states otherwise.

  • Only the purchaser of record may request a voluntary-return RMA or receive a return refund or credit.
  • An end user who purchased from a dealer does not have a direct return right against SMG for the dealer’s order. Any warranty eligibility is governed separately by the applicable written warranty.
  • A dealer’s decision to accept a return from its own customer does not obligate SMG to accept the product back.
  • SMG does not accept a dealer return solely because the dealer chose to refund or accept a return from its own customer; the dealer remains responsible for retaining or reselling the item unless it independently qualifies under this policy.
  • Any approved refund or credit is issued only to the purchasing dealer’s account or original payment method, not directly to the dealer’s customer.
  • Dealer and reseller orders remain subject to all packaging, seal, serial-number, return-window, restocking-fee, cancellation, and final-sale rules.

6. Final-Sale and Non-Returnable Items

The following are final sale and are not eligible for return, refund, or exchange unless SMG shipped the wrong item or applicable law requires otherwise:

  • Installed, test-fit, used, programmed, calibrated, modified, altered, damaged, contaminated, or incomplete items;
  • Any Fueling Product that does not satisfy every requirement in Section 4;
  • Electrical or electronic components outside the Fueling Product category, including harnesses, sensors, modules, controllers, switches, relays, and similar products;
  • Custom, special-order, made-to-order, built-to-order, assembled-to-order, personalized, configured, modified, coated, cut, engraved, or fabricated items;
  • Body panels, hoods, bumpers, and other freight or oversized items;
  • Wheels or tires after mounting, installation, balancing, or use;
  • Tuning devices, programmers, software, digital products, licenses, credits, or electronically delivered items after delivery, activation, registration, or VIN locking;
  • Open-box, clearance, closeout, scratch-and-dent, or liquidation items;
  • Items marked “Final Sale,” “Non-Returnable,” “No Returns,” or with equivalent language on the product page, quote, invoice, or order acknowledgment;
  • Items with a removed, altered, missing, mismatched, or unreadable serial number, lot number, barcode, label, or identifying mark; and
  • Items outside the return window or shipped after the RMA deadline.

“Final sale” applies to voluntary returns, refunds, and exchanges. It does not by itself eliminate a valid written warranty claim or a non-waivable legal right. Warranty claims are governed by Section 13.

7. Restocking Fees and Refund Deductions

Except where Section 4 states the fixed Fueling Product fee, approved returns are subject to the following:

  • A minimum 20% restocking fee;
  • A restocking fee of up to 30% when required by the manufacturer, distributor, product category, or a written product-specific term disclosed at purchase;
  • Deduction of the actual original outbound shipping cost, including shipping paid by SMG under a “free shipping” promotion;
  • Deduction of any return-label cost paid or advanced by SMG;
  • Deduction of manufacturer, distributor, or vendor charges that are nonrefundable and were disclosed before purchase or are otherwise permitted by law;
  • Deduction for missing components, damaged packaging, diminished condition, or other loss in value when SMG elects to accept a return that does not fully comply; and
  • Adjustment of sales tax as required by applicable law.

Original shipping, expedited shipping, freight, insurance, Route® protection, handling, and similar charges are nonrefundable after shipment except when the return results from a verified SMG fulfillment error or applicable law requires otherwise.

A customer selection error, application error, changed project, or fitment claim is not an SMG fulfillment error when SMG shipped the part number ordered.

8. Return Shipping and Packaging Responsibility

Unless SMG confirms a fulfillment error in writing:

  • The purchaser is responsible for all return shipping costs;
  • The purchaser must use a trackable shipping method and is strongly encouraged to insure the shipment for its full value;
  • The purchaser is responsible for loss or damage during return transit;
  • The item must be securely packed in an outer shipping carton and in accordance with the manufacturer’s packaging method;
  • Collect-on-delivery shipments will be refused; and
  • SMG is not responsible for packages sent to an unauthorized address.

When SMG provides a return label for a verified SMG fulfillment error, the purchaser must follow all packaging and carrier instructions supplied by SMG.

9. Order Cancellations

9.1 General Cancellation Rules

Orders are processed quickly. A cancellation request is only a request and is not effective unless SMG confirms the cancellation in writing.

An order may be noncancelable once it has entered processing, been allocated, picked, packed, labeled, submitted to a vendor or distributor, transferred to a fulfillment location, or shipped.

If cancellation is not approved, the order will proceed. After delivery, the item may be returned only if it is independently eligible under this policy. A non-returnable item does not become returnable because a cancellation request was denied.

Manufacturer or vendor cancellation charges that apply to a standard order will be passed through when disclosed or actually imposed. Orders placed through a sales representative, telephone, manual invoice, or custom quote are subject to a minimum 10% cancellation fee when cancellation is approved after order entry or processing has begun.

9.2 Custom, Special-Order, and Made-to-Order Cancellations

Custom, special-order, made-to-order, built-to-order, assembled-to-order, configured, modified, fabricated, coated, cut, engraved, or personalized items are final sale.

These orders may be submitted to the manufacturer, vendor, production queue, or internal build process immediately and are generally submitted within the first 5 calendar days after order placement. The five-day period is not a cancellation or grace period.

The order cannot be canceled after any of the following occurs:

  • It is submitted or released to a manufacturer, vendor, distributor, fabricator, or production queue;
  • Production, assembly, programming, configuration, modification, coating, cutting, fabrication, or procurement begins;
  • Materials, components, labor, production capacity, or inventory are committed to the order; or
  • The manufacturer or vendor treats the order as noncancelable.

A cancellation request received before those events may be approved, but approval is never guaranteed. If approved, the cancellation is subject to a 10% cancellation fee, calculated from the affected item’s merchandise subtotal before tax and shipping.

When the product page, quotation, invoice, or order acknowledgment disclosed a different manufacturer-imposed cancellation fee, the specifically disclosed fee controls.

No custom, special-order, or made-to-order cancellation is effective until SMG sends written confirmation. If cancellation is not approved, the order will proceed and remain final sale.

10. Refund Processing

Refunds are issued only after the returned item is received, inspected, and approved.

  • Approved return refunds are generally processed within 7–10 business days after inspection, unless a shorter period is required by law.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Purchases made with store credit or a gift card are refunded as store credit.
  • SMG may offer store credit as an alternative, but store credit will not replace a legally required monetary refund without the purchaser’s agreement.
  • All applicable restocking fees, cancellation fees, shipping charges, vendor charges, and other deductions are applied before the refund is issued.
  • Financial institutions, card issuers, financing providers, and payment platforms control the time required for a processed refund to appear in the customer’s account.

11. Fitment and Order-Selection Responsibility

Fitment information is provided as a guide based on the application information available to SMG and the manufacturer. The purchaser is responsible for confirming the exact year, make, model, trim, engine, transmission, drivetrain, options, modifications, existing components, intended use, and part number before purchase and before opening any sealed or non-returnable product.

Prior repairs, production changes, non-original equipment, vehicle modifications, other aftermarket parts, damaged mounting points, and incomplete or inaccurate customer information may affect installation.

A statement that an item “does not fit” does not by itself establish a product defect or SMG fulfillment error. SMG may require the order number, VIN or complete vehicle details, part number, serial number, photographs, measurements, and installation information to evaluate the claim.

  • If SMG shipped a different part number from the part number ordered, contact SMG before installation and SMG will provide written correction instructions.
  • If SMG shipped the part number ordered, the matter is treated as a customer selection or vehicle-configuration issue and remains subject to the return and final-sale rules.
  • A Fueling Product must not be opened or test-fit to evaluate compatibility. Contact SMG before breaking the manufacturer seal if fitment is uncertain.

12. Incorrect Items, Shortages, and Shipping Damage

Claims that an order arrived with the wrong item, missing contents, visible shipping damage, or concealed shipping damage must be reported to returns@smgspeed.com within 48 hours after delivery. Include the order number and clear photographs of the shipping carton, shipping label, all packaging, the item, the part number, serial number, and the claimed damage or shortage.

Keep all packaging and do not install, use, modify, discard, or return the item until written instructions are provided.

  • A verified SMG picking or fulfillment error will be corrected without a restocking fee, and SMG will provide return-shipping instructions when a return is required.
  • Shipping damage is a carrier or shipping-protection claim and is not a manufacturer warranty claim.
  • If Route® Shipping Protection was purchased, the purchaser must file the claim under Route’s claim process and terms.
  • If Route® was not purchased, SMG may assist with an available carrier claim, but recovery may be limited to the carrier’s accepted liability and applicable law.

Failure to report promptly or preserve the packaging may prevent the carrier, protection provider, manufacturer, or SMG from verifying or recovering the claim, except to the extent applicable law provides otherwise.

13. Warranty and Alleged-Defect Claims

13.1 Returns and Warranties Are Separate

A voluntary return is different from a warranty claim. An allegation that an item is defective does not automatically authorize a refund, exchange, chargeback, or return to SMG.

An opened or otherwise final-sale item remains non-returnable for a voluntary refund, but it may still qualify for warranty service under the applicable written warranty. A warranty authorization from a manufacturer is not an SMG RMA, and an SMG RMA is not a manufacturer warranty authorization.

13.2 SMG-Branded Products

Warranty claims for SMG-branded products are handled under the SMG written warranty applicable to the product at the time of purchase.

To begin a claim, email returns@smgspeed.com with the order number, purchaser name, product and serial number, installation date, installer information, complete vehicle and build information, a detailed description of the issue, diagnostic information, and clear photographs or video reasonably requested by SMG.

The available remedy, exclusions, required inspection, shipping responsibility, and claim procedure are determined by the applicable SMG written warranty. This return policy does not expand or replace those warranty terms.

13.3 Third-Party Products and Manufacturer Warranties

A “Third-Party Product” is a product that is not sold under an SMG brand and for which a manufacturer, supplier, or other third party provides the written warranty.

Unless the manufacturer expressly requires the selling dealer to submit the claim, the purchaser must initiate and handle the warranty claim directly with the manufacturer. The manufacturer’s written warranty, claim instructions, deadlines, exclusions, and remedy control the claim, subject to applicable law.

The purchaser should be prepared to provide the manufacturer with:

  • Proof of purchase;
  • Product name and part number;
  • Serial or lot number;
  • Purchase and installation dates;
  • Vehicle and application details;
  • Installer name and installation invoice, when requested;
  • Photographs, video, logs, diagnostic results, tune information, fuel information, or test results reasonably required by the manufacturer; and
  • A description of the claimed failure and the conditions under which it occurred.

If the manufacturer requires dealer participation, the purchaser must first obtain the manufacturer’s case or claim number, then email SMG with all requested information. In that situation, SMG acts only as an administrative or communication intermediary unless applicable law requires otherwise. The manufacturer remains responsible for determining coverage and selecting the warranty remedy.

SMG does not independently approve, deny, or determine the remedy for a Third-Party Product warranty claim and does not guarantee that the manufacturer will approve a claim. SMG also does not independently bench-test or diagnose Third-Party Products unless SMG agrees to do so in writing.

The manufacturer may require inspection, troubleshooting, testing, return of the product, or shipment to a designated facility. Follow the manufacturer’s written instructions. Do not send a Third-Party Product to SMG unless SMG separately issues a written RMA directing the product to SMG.

A manufacturer may provide repair, replacement, parts, credit, or another remedy under its warranty. A cash refund from SMG is not available merely because a manufacturer warranty claim is made or approved, unless the manufacturer’s remedy, SMG’s written agreement, or applicable law requires a refund.

Unless the applicable written warranty or applicable law expressly provides otherwise, SMG does not reimburse or cover:

  • Removal or reinstallation labor;
  • Diagnostic, inspection, tuning, programming, calibration, or shop charges;
  • Fluids, fuel, filters, gaskets, seals, fittings, or other incidental materials;
  • Towing, transport, storage, rental vehicles, travel, lodging, lost use, downtime, lost revenue, or expedited shipping;
  • Damage caused by incorrect selection, incompatible components, improper installation, contamination, misuse, neglect, modification, tuning, failure to follow instructions, or racing or competition use when excluded by the applicable written warranty; or
  • Damage to the vehicle, engine, or other components unless expressly covered by an applicable written warranty or required by law.

Shipping damage, loss in transit, and delivery shortages are not warranty defects and must be handled under Section 12 and the Shipping Policy.

13.4 Serial Numbers and Warranty Eligibility

Warranty service is subject to the serial number, proof of purchase, purchaser eligibility, transfer rules, and other conditions in the applicable written warranty. Removed, altered, mismatched, duplicated, or unreadable identifying information may prevent verification and may result in claim denial by the applicable warrantor.

14. Installation and Use

Professional installation by a qualified technician is strongly recommended. The applicable written warranty may require proof that installation instructions and specified procedures were followed, but warranty coverage will not be conditioned on the use of a particular named installer or service provider where applicable law prohibits that condition.

The purchaser and installer are responsible for reviewing instructions, confirming compatibility, using proper tools and procedures, checking the entire related system, and stopping installation or use if an unsafe, incorrect, or abnormal condition is discovered.

Improper installation does not automatically eliminate every legal or warranty right, but damage or failure caused by improper installation, contamination, misuse, incompatible parts, unauthorized modification, programming, calibration, or failure to follow instructions may be excluded under the applicable warranty and applicable law.

15. Freight, Oversized Items, and Shipping-Rate Errors

Freight and oversized items are final sale unless a written product-specific term states otherwise.

If checkout calculates an incorrect freight or oversized-item shipping charge because of system, address, accessorial, residential, liftgate, geographic, or carrier limitations, SMG may pause the order and provide the correct charge.

The purchaser may approve the corrected charge or cancel an item that has not already become noncancelable under Section 9. A custom, special-order, or made-to-order item already committed to production remains governed by Section 9.2.

Freight delivery inspection, damage notation, claims, address requirements, and other shipment terms are also governed by the SMG Shipping Policy.

16. Pricing Errors, Availability, and Shipment Delays

Prices and availability may be supplied through manufacturer, distributor, and automated data feeds. A listing or order confirmation does not guarantee that an item is available or free from an obvious pricing, description, or data error.

To the extent permitted by law, SMG may correct an error or cancel an affected order before fulfillment. If SMG cancels an unshipped order because of a pricing error or inability to supply the merchandise, SMG will issue the refund required by applicable law.

SMG does not display guaranteed live inventory unless expressly stated. If SMG cannot ship within a promised or legally applicable time, SMG may request the purchaser’s consent to a revised shipment date or cancel and refund the unshipped merchandise as required by applicable law.

17. Refused Shipments and Address Accuracy

Refusing delivery does not cancel an order and does not create return authorization.

  • If a refused item is return-eligible, any refund remains subject to inspection, outbound and return shipping, carrier charges, and applicable restocking fees.
  • If a refused item is final sale or non-returnable, no refund is due. The purchaser remains responsible for the order and for any cost to reship or redirect it.
  • The purchaser is responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address and contact information.
  • Address-correction, reconsignment, redelivery, return-to-sender, storage, and reshipping charges caused by purchaser error are the purchaser’s responsibility.
  • If SMG made the address error, SMG will provide written correction instructions without charging the purchaser for SMG’s error.

18. Fraud, Abuse, Chargebacks, and Refusal of Service

To the extent permitted by law, SMG may cancel an order, limit return privileges, close an account, or refuse future service based on suspected fraud, altered seals, serial-number mismatch, product substitution, return abuse, false claims, abusive or threatening conduct, or repeated or improper chargebacks.

A payment dispute or chargeback does not alter this policy or substitute for the RMA or warranty process. SMG may provide order records, product descriptions, policy acceptance records, communications, serial-number records, shipment records, delivery records, photographs, and inspection results to the payment provider or other appropriate party.

This section does not eliminate any remedy that SMG is legally required to provide for a completed order.

19. Final Terms

  • No employee, dealer, reseller, installer, sales representative, manufacturer representative, or other person may modify or waive this policy orally.
  • Any exception must be stated in a written document issued by an authorized SMG manager or owner and identifying the specific order and exception.
  • If any provision of this policy is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  • SMG may update this policy prospectively. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, the version in effect when the order was placed governs that order.
  • This policy must be read together with applicable product pages, quotations, invoices, dealer agreements, written warranties, the SMG Shipping Policy, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Service.
