Rear axle only; 2004-2005 Mazda Miata Base, LS or Mazdaspeed with original Sport/Hard S rear brakes, 10.9-inch solid iron rotors and single-piston rear calipers. Requires D1002 backing-plate and clip/shim configuration; .492-inch nominal pad thickness. Match original parking-brake and retaining hardware. Excludes standard 9.9-inch rear brakes, NC brakes, carbon-ceramic rotors and unverified conversions. Do not assume interchangeability with HB442/D891 .496-inch pads.
2001-2003 applications require separate exact-part and hardware confirmation. Hawk sources disagree on the D891/D1002 transition, and the Mazda OE catalog distinguishes pad/hardware sets at chassis/VIN 206466. The same rotor diameter does not establish pad or clip interchangeability; verify the actual backing plate, thickness, clips and shims before ordering for an earlier car.
